D -  Dance, R -  Rhythm, E -  Entertainment, A -  Artistic, M -  Music, S -  Style DREAMS, a well known dance group in Seattle was originated by dancer, choreographer and dance instructor Prashanthi Chitre in year 1999. Dreams group is currently specializing in bollywood dance ballets with its versatile skills in Indian classical, folk and bollywood dance styles including hip hop, jazz and ballroom dancing. The group started the initial journey by performing to bollywood (Hindi film industry) and tollywood (Telugu film industry) film songs in the local community events. Since Prashanthi’s marriage to Sudarshan Chitre in year 2001, the couple has taken the group a step further by partnering with the local music bands to perform in events like AllGoRythms and Raga2Rock (Music concert by Bollywood playback singer, Chandana dixit). The group was officially named DREAMS in year 2003 during Raga2Rock concert. With the acceptance from the audience as an extremely talented and professional bollywood dance group around the Seattle area, DREAMS decided to strike out on their own in year 2005 and perform classic musicals translated into Hindi. “Cinderella – A Bollywood Ballet” was their first such independent production. They performed Cinderella during CRY’s (Child Rights and You) RazzMatazz show to widespread acclaim and standing ovation from audience. After much demand for more productions of this type, DREAMS came back in year 2007 with their second production, “My Fair Lady – A Bollywood Ballerina”, adding another successful ballet to its credibility. The group's recent production "Desi Girl" was a SUPER DUPER HIT with the audience The group that started with 6 members in 1999 grew up to 50 + members by year 2009 including not only the talented dancers but also experts in areas like direction, music, lights, sound editing & mixing, stage management, etc., The members of DREAMS group are IT professionals during the day working full time for different software companies like Microsoft, Expedia, Amazon, Google etc., Even with the really hectic work schedules, the group still comes together to pursue their passion, to set a meaning to their effort and to help the poor and children around the world by raising funds through their performances. DREAMS group was started just with a goal to achieve the dream and passion for dance but the goal expanded over the years to include and achieve the dreams of many underprivileged children around the world. The group has done numerous charity events for organizations like CRY, Asha, Sankara Eye Foundation and Little Drops Orphanage Fund. The DREAMS group raised about $5000 through "Cinderella – A Bollywood Ballet", about $14000 through "My Fair Lady – A Bollywood Ballerina" and about $15000 (even during the bad economy phase) through their recent effort "Desi Girl" for the Nonprofit organization CRY to help enable health care and education for underprivileged children in India.
